My songs are born out of relationships with other musicians and wordsmiths who have mentored and encouraged me as friends and musical partners. The list of names includes Rick Anthoney, John Willing, Edd Key, Jodie Simmons, Bob Edmondson, Balmore Menendez, Steve Rolfe and many others. The Common Ground and Earth Gospel Player family choirs have inspired me for almost fifty years now. Finally, it is difficult to imagine that any of this would have been possible without the presence of my beloved wife Julie.

Phil is a singer-songwriter whose roots go back to the sixties folk era. His songs are flavored by the styles of Dylan, Paxton, Prine. Some of his more recent work has political and religious energy inspired by Phil Ochs and Leonard Cohen. He has been back in Ohio now for more than a decade and is playing regularly in a duo called Sour Cherry Pie with his talented bass playing buddy Steve Rolfe. ... more
